Malawi Airlines has once again showed its commitment to supporting the creative sector in the country by donating air tickets to musician Onesimus’ upcoming gig.
The air tickets will help fly some of the international artists into the country ahead of the listening session for his second album titled Son of Grace to be held at Bingu International Convention
Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on May 2 2026.
The national airlines’ Public Relations Officer Joseph Chikalipo said the air tickets will fly artists from its regional route, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania.
“Through partnerships like this one, we aim to help grow the creative industry while sharing Malawi’s culture with wider audiences. We are confident the Onesmus’ show will be a resounding success,” Chikalipo said.
He could not be drawn to say how much they were spending on the air tickets.
Famed for songs such as ‘Controller’, Onesimus popularly known as African Butter hailed Malawi Airlines for the support.
“This means more for me. Malawi Airlines has shown that it is a friend of the arts. This is a special listening session which will give music lovers something special,” he said.
He said with a number of international artists joining the fiesta, Malawi Airlines has made it easier for them to come down to Malawi.
“The costs have been cut and I will spend less,” the award winning musician said.
About seven international artists who Onesimus has collaborated with in the project are set to join him during the concert.
The artists include South Africa’s Big Brother Mzansi season six winner Liema Pantsi, Zimbabwe’s Nutty O and Lesotho’s Wavy Rhyder.
Apart from international acts, Onesimus will also share the stage with fellow local artist Saint.
The Son of Grace Album Listening Session comes barely three months after the artist also hosted a music battle of Onesimus versus Armstrong at the same venue.
